    Double Delight
Short, blunted and diverging tips at the ends of long sweeping arms enable Buxton's self-retaining subscapularis retractors to reach deep when accessing their prey. These retractors are especially well suited to separate split subscapularis muscle while performing a Jobe-type anterior approach to the capsule.

Recently, a new version of this comely classic was introduced wherein a brace of tips at the end of each arm were joined by a 25 mm wide yoke. The extra prongs give greater stability, reduce any tendency for the instrument to rotate and provide better visibility by virtue of their broader retraction. The new double-prong retractor should find enthusiastic favor amongst surgeons who already enlist the original, single-prong version to retract the split deltoid in small incision rotator cuff repair procedures.
