The One-Handed Bandit
Unforgettable if not downright legendary among spine surgeons, this nubile hyperontomorph bone nibbling rongeur is a full 40 centimeters long and useful for the anterior approach or on very large or adipose patients.
Extended length Leksell-style rongeurs are nothing new but their geometry is often such that the handles spread very wide and must be operated with two hands in a hedge clipper fashion. Buxton's One-Handed Bandit features a modified double action frame which keeps handles close enough together for most surgeons to grasp the instrument comfortably with only one hand. They are available in 3 mm, 5 mm and 8 mm bites.
