A Love Cut Short
Years ago reports came to us that original Loves had left surgeons "hooked" on the dura. Classic Love Nerve Root Retractors feature lily-shaped blades rolling off their stems through an arc of nearly 180°. Buxton's solution was to simply remove the final bend at the blades' distal-most portion.
The blade "reach" of a standard Love Nerve Root Retractor is about 7 mm. By eliminating the last 90°, this extension is shortened to 5 mm. But for some even this was a little too much Love. Buxton went back to work, put its lip to the grindstone and introduced the Short Love. This blade still rolls through an arc of only 90° but the reach has been reduced to a mere 3 mm. In all other respects our new Love will remind you of your old Love, but without all the all too familiar hang-ups.
