    Tenectomy Rongeur
A strong angle and pointed cups make the Kölbel Tenectomy Rongeur particularly useful for freeing soft tissue residue from the glenoid and scapula.

Buxton offers a fine selection of double action rongeurs, with distinct features to make them better suited for their intended use in hand, spine or shoulder surgeries. Notable among them are two rongeurs offered for shoulder surgery: Our 24-5917 Tenectomy Rongeur features tapered bird beak-like jaws and the 24-5918 model offers more typically bulbous nibbling cups. Each provides welcome assistance to the surgeon’s efforts to trim and roughen the bone/soft tissue interface. It is solidly constructed, yet extra attention has been taken to reduce weight and improve balance. Inspired by basic anatomy, the bulk around the epiphyses has been maintained excess material along the diaphysis has been trimmed away.

To attain the smoothest possible action, we have avoided the temptation to use a single return spring. Unilateral springs either slide, or in some cases roll on a small wheel, in a groove milled into the medial surface of the opposite arm. At first, resistance is light and barely noticed, but soon these springs are grinding their way through the opening and closing process. Regular lubrication provides temporary relief, but its staccato-like effect is recurrent and relentless in stroke after squeezing stroke.

As with all of our double articulating rongeurs, the Kölbel Tenectomy Rongeur features only paired springs with a ball-socket interface. We have taken the trouble to fit the springs to flex in synchronization with the handle to achieve smooth counter pressure throughout the range of handle motion.
