    Mainz Squeeze

Once met, this double articulating rongeur is hard to forget. Solid construction and a Teutonic heritage mate this instrument to today's demands for an effective bone nibbling function and delicate extension. Common sense and quality craftsmanship applied to top grade German stainless steel reach to the heart and essence of this design.

Buxton’s affinity for the eclectic drew it to this shift in the ratios between the paired articulating points, resulting in a subtle but significant outcome in performance. Note the variance in the spacing of the two middle screws to the distal screw on one side and the proximal screw on the other side. A little Archimedean leveraging blended with quality craftsmanship, lead to the juggling of relationships of the four pivot points to achieve the desired movement within the required form and functional parameters. Long slender cups with a short range of motion can now reach deep into cavities, even where exposure is limited.

Only slightly shorter in overall length than its Smith-Peterson predecessor the distance from the proximal pivot screw to distal end of cups of the Mainz rongeur is fully 33% longer than its more familiar counterpart. Despite the stretched dimensions of torso and tips, the ectomorphic Mainz remains an instrument of willowy grace incorporating comfort, balance and quick response proportional to the tasks intended. With such qualities to admire, what else could make a cup rongeur more memorable?
