    Rongeurs...with an Attitude
Fans of the venerable Smith-Peterson double articulating rongeurs will be pleased to note that Buxton now offers this instrument in an extra-strong 80° angle version.

Sure, we got ‘em! Buxton's Smith-Peterson double articulating rongeurs come in straight, slightly angled and the "strong" angled versions. For better or for worse the ready availability and faithful service of Smith-Peterson rongeurs are often taken for granted. Their size and style label these silent surgical sentinels as middle-of-the-road, workhorse rongeurs. But Buxton views even the seemingly common in a manner that is just a little extraordinary. Buxton builds its S-P's with a paired set of springs that feature a smooth-action ball-joint interface. There are no springs with squeaky wheels or skids on our rongeurs. Neither will one find a tongue and fork design. These springs are infamous for their cricket click and dangerous liaisons with the vulnerable palms of rubber gloves.

The additional grinding takes more time to complete, but we took a cue from anatomy and lightened the extremities of our Smith-Petersons by trimming diaphysis while maintaining necessary bulk around epiphyses. Light weight and trim design two features especially important for tight visualization and rapid hand movement.
