The convex leading edges help probe the tendon surfaces when seeking the seeking the original plane between the tendon and surrounding anatomy. At one end the shaft is curved to follow anatomy in the palmar aspect, while the other end remains true to the plane of the central axis of the instrument body and facilitates probing the medial and lateral quadrants of the tendon.
