The incision has been made, the coracobrachial muscle retracted and the subscapularis split. Good medial retraction is now called for in order to effectively expose the underlying capsule. A pair of near perfect solutions is mounted on accommodating racks in the convenient Buxton Shoulder Instrument Case. Two sharp prongs at the distal end of each lever enable sure seating while working within the joint capsule.

With an overall length of 300 mm, assistants are encouraged to keep hands and elbows comfortably out of the field while levering retraction. Once the capsule is incised, the propitious Kölbel Glenoid Levers again prove their usefulness, as the prongs are convenient for temporarily tacking down the loose medial flap of the capsular membrane. Two sizes are available to accommodate most anomalies in patient anatomies.
